Mark Leads 5th District Candidates to Sign “No Pension Pledge”

02/12/2010

Southbury – CT – Mark Greenberg, candidate for US Congress in CT-5, is proud to announce that all of the candidates in the Republican primary have now followed his lead and signed the “No Pension Pledge.”  After the signing, which took place at a forum moderated by Dan Lovallo on February 9th at Canton High School, Mark released the following statement:

“I am very pleased that all of my competitors have joined me in signing this pledge.  It is reassuring to know that regardless of who becomes our Republican nominee this August, he will not be receiving a Congressional Pension.  It should be an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens in the House of Representatives. Any Congressional Pension plan is simply another example of wasting precious taxpayer funds and government resources.

“Members of Congress have no need for a pension plan,” Greenberg continued.  “There is ample opportunity for any outgoing member of the House or Senate to make a fine living after he or she serves one’s country, without continuing to burden the American taxpayer.”
