Litchfield County Times: “Greenberg of Litchfield Faces Moment of Truth”
“Mr. Greenberg, who has never run for office before, said he decided to take the plunge earlier this year because, in part, he saw the impact on small businesses in a congressional district in which he has many commercial holdings.
‘Small businesses are not hiring,’ he said during an interview at Bagel Chalet on Route 44 in Simsbury. ‘They’re the engine of growth.’
As he spoke to businessmen in the shopping centers, the candidate, who has the backing of Mr. Schiff and other Tea Party activists, stressed his commitment to lower spending and less regulation.
‘They’re afraid to hire,’ Mr. Greenberg said of small businesses.
‘They don’t know about the [future] economic climate,’ he said regarding the psychological impact of what is considered the most severe economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
