Education
Education starts at home and parental involvement is the most important factor in any child’s development. My wife and I taught our children to read — we didn’t wait for the government – because we knew that kids who are read to by their parents achieve academic readiness faster.
Parents, along with local teachers, principals and local school districts are responsible for the education of our children and decisions about educating them are best made at the local level.
We all know the difference that parents and caring teachers make in the lives and educations of our children — we need to support their ability to shape their own communities by keeping our education tax dollars invested right here in Connecticut, not in the federal bureaucracy.
We should have choices for parents and students — between public schools, charters schools, private schools and home schooling. For too long, we have failed generations of public school students by denying educational programs that work.
Again — we must resist the one-size-fits-all mentality imposed by the federal government.
My federal plan for education is simple — leave Local tax dollars for Local school districts to make Local decisions that affect Local students.
