Jobs is the number one issue facing our state and nation.

There is no more basic human need than a decent job. Working people contribute to our economy by paying the income taxes, sales taxes and business taxes necessary to fund much-needed government programs.

People who don’t have jobs create the need for more government services like unemployment compensation, health care and housing assistance – services that are paid for with tax dollars. High unemployment creates a greater demand for government programs being paid for by fewer workers.

The solution is not more taxes to pay for more government programs – the solution is to create more jobs, get people back to work and create the next generation of jobs for our children. Working people and thriving businesses fuel our economy. We need to create jobs for the hundreds of thousands of people who are out of work.

The best way to stimulate our economy and create jobs is to provide immediate and permanent tax relief. In Congress, I will immediately work to cut the business tax, eliminate the death tax and cut marginal rates – all of which will spur investment and economic growth.

We all realize how critically important it is for all Americans to have jobs, earn a living and be able to save some money on the side. I know how to create jobs – for more than 35 years I have been a part of what makes our economy work, and I have dedicated my life to creating jobs and improving my community.
