Lawsuit Reform
Frivolous lawsuits threaten our economic development, diversification and freedom. Small businesses already spend too much money on accountants to help them understand a complicated and onerous tax code.
In our litigious society, business has become even more expensive and risky for employers by forcing them to hire attorneys to either protect against or defend frivolous lawsuits. This money would be better utilized by reinvesting it into their own businesses — hiring additional employees and purchasing equipment – which help stimulate our economy and create jobs.
Reform should include a system whereby the loser of the lawsuit is obligated to pay the winner’s legal fees to discourage frivolous, meritless lawsuits.
